Starting May 12, we begin a new series on the greatest story ever written – “God’s Great Story of Hope”. We live in a country with people from many backgrounds and cultures. Many have been taught different versions of this great story. As with most great stories that remain in focus for thousands of years, it can be hard to stay aligned with the original intent of the author and we can lose its impact on our lives. When this happens, it becomes necessary to go back to the original source of the story and hit the “reset” button for a better understanding.
The intent of this new series is to hit the “reset” button on God’s Great story of Hope by going back to its source, the Bible for a fresh understanding of this impact on our lives.
Join us for our sermon series on the book of First John entitled “Assurance of God’s Love”. The apostle John warns us of false teaching that attempts to draw people away from the truth of the Gospel, spreading the disease of unbelief by denying that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. The antidote for this false teaching is founded upon the truth in God’s word which declares that Jesus Christ is God’s Son who came in the flesh to rescue people from their sins. Through vivid comparisons of light versus darkness, truth versus error, love versus hate, Christians are called to know the truth of the Gospel, love one another, and abide in God. Rather than succumb to the ungodly desires of the world, God’s people are to overcome the world through their relationship with Jesus Christ who is greater than those who deny him.
All of this springs from God who first loved us: “God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.” This “Assurance of God’s Love” breeds confidence in those who believe in the name of the Son of God – that they may love one another and know they have eternal life.
